About the Programme
Accessible tourism benefits all travellers/tourists and the benefits include increased quality of tourism services; increased enjoyment levels for all tourists, as well as improving quality of life in the local communities and increased revenue for the tourism providers. This programme introduces participants from all tourism sectors to the key principles of making their services, products, tourist destinations and information fully accessible.
Aim
This course aims to equip all those involved in the hospitality, accommodation, entertainment, transportation and tourism sector with the key skills to ensure their services, products, tourist destinations and information is accessible to all people regardless of their age, size or ability.

Key Outcomes
Learners who successfully complete this course will:
- Identify barriers people with disabilities face and how to remove these barriers within the hospitality and tourism sector.
- Strengthen their knowledge of Universal Design, particularly in how it applies to the tourism and hospitality sector (i.e. New Irish standard on Universal Design for customer engagement in tourism services).
- Develop an understanding on how to improve information for people who experience information barriers (i.e. written, oral and electronic communications).
- Be able to summarise disability equality legislation relating to accessible tourism.
- Develop an awareness of practical measures in relation to making tourism services, products, tourist destinations and information accessible for all .
