Universal Design standard wins UN award at the 2014 Zero Project Conference

Under the motto “No one can enjoy a human right to which one does not have access,” The Zero Project Conference took place in Vienna from the 27th to 28th February 2014.  The international initiative Zero Project mobilised its worldwide network of more than 1,000 disability experts in Spring 2014 to map the state of the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and to find innovative practice and policy solutions on accessibility.

The work of the National Disability Authority and the National Standards Authority of Ireland in the development of the 'SWiFT 9: 2012 Universal Design for Energy Suppliers' standard was highlighted at Zero Project Conference  for its achievements to enable key stakeholders to embrace universal design, with a long lasting impact on universal service delivery.
