Position Overview
O’Herlihy Access Consultancy (OHAC) is looking for a full time Senior Access Advisor to join our world-class team. The Senior Accessibility Advisor reports directly to the Construction Manager and will be responsible for the delivery of projects relating to the services provided by OHAC in the Construction Department. This is primarily the project management of a number of on-site projects, carrying out on-site inspections, preparation of Revised Disability Access Certificates, carrying out accessibility audits, coordination and close out of all OHAC site required documentation and compliance information, and other advisory services as required. The key function of the role is to advise, support and deliver on a variety of accessibility projects focusing on and to ensure compliance with Part M of the Building Regulations, Universal Design and best practice accessibility standards. For successful implementation of this role, there are several key relationships to be fostered and developed within the public, private and not for profit sectors. Responsibilities
- Full project management responsibility for delivery of a portfolio of projects
- Attend client meetings
- Report on status and progress of projects at weekly meetings. Update project lists, projections, timelines, etc
- Act as main point of contact with client on project and work to develop strong relationships with clients.
- Work with the client to solve issues and identify solutions while maintaining compliance requirements.
- Ensure on-site compliance with Granted Disability Certificates and Part M, through site inspections, technical reviews, submittal reviews, coordination of testing & commissioning documentation and other related BCAR activities.
- Prepare and complete on inspection plans for each project.
- Prepare, complete and issue documentation relating to Revised Disability Access Certificate applications
- Ensure completion of work by other staff members where they may be reporting back or undertaking work for the portfolio of projects, that includes allocation of work, peer reviews, technical advice and providing on the job training support
- Continuously develop own accessibility knowledge and contribute internally, while also seeking to contribute externally to the accessibility community nationally and internationally
- Contributes to the wider company in terms of supporting the development of accessibility awareness – e.g. company newsletters, presentations, CPDs etc.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A qualification in any of the following: Building Surveying, Architecture, Construction or Engineering with a high level of design skills
- 5+ years’ experience with construction site projects.
- Prior project management of construction projects at various stages of completion.
- Prior experience of working on accessibility compliance projects is preferrable.
- Strong accessibility knowledge to include Advanced knowledge of Part M / TGD M, BS8300, Universal Design principles with ability to use own knowledge and expertise to identify solutions to technical problems.
- Demonstrate a passion for accessibility and seeks to continuously developing own technical knowledge in the field of accessibility.
- Good proficiency with complex drawing reviews and presentation techniques.
- Excellent project management skills including experience of delivering multiple projects, on time and in budget
- Skilled in managing client relationships with the ability to partner with clients, set expectations, deliver quality service and problem solve to bring about resolution of issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to quickly develop relationships with all stakeholders/clients and colleagues alike
- A driven, self-starter with the ability to act with the minimum of supervision.
- Highly structured with good organisational skills.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communications’ skills
- Ability to work well within a team and contribute to the team wider OHAC team.
- Previous experience of coordinating and delivering work with others.
