Microsoft Providing $25 Million for an Initiative to Develop AI for Accessibility

Microsoft accessibility At Microsoft’s annual Build developer conference 2018 a new program called AI for Accessibility was unveiled. The program will see Microsoft pledge $25 million over the next five years looking at ways to use AI (Artificial Intelligence) to improve Accessibility in order to help more than one billion people with disabilities around the world.

The program will see Microsoft providing grants to developers and organisations who use and “AI-first approach” to developing tools which could help people with disability in their daily, working and social lives. Projects that are deemed promising will receive technological investment and assistance from Microsoft’s own experts in the field in order to help scale the proposed solutions.

AI for Accessibility is part of a larger push by Microsoft and other leading technology companies to develop AI to help solve the world’s most pressing issues.
