No 26 York Street, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Dublin

In Autumn 2017 OHAC, as part of the design team, oversaw the completion of the RCSI’s new medical education building at 26 York Street. The state-of-the-art facility, over 10 floors, accommodates a six storey educational and medical training facilities over four basement levels which provide multi-purpose sports facilities with ancillary spaces, fitness suite and prayer rooms.

As Access Consultants, OHAC were involved from the early stages of the design of the building, providing design and technical advice to the design team and others involved in the project. Our role included preparation of a Disability Access Certificate (DAC), preparation of Revised Disability Access Certificate (RDAC) applications and we also assisted in the role of Part M Ancillary certifier.

OHAC is proud of the high standards of accessibility and quality achieved throughout the project in collaboration and consultation with all parties involved.  The New Academic Education Building won awards in the categories of ‘Educational Building of the year’ and first place in the ‘Public Choice Award’, as well as being highly commended in the category of ‘Universal Design’ at the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards 2018.
