TFI Launches Please Offer Me a Seat Badge

By Tyler Phillips

Transport of Ireland (TFI), in partnership with Invisible Disabilities Ireland, has launched the “Please Offer me a Seat” badge and card to assist people with Hidden Disabilities.

Hidden disabilities such as Dyspraxia, may not have visible indictors that are apparent to other passengers. The badge and card act as a subtle way for people with hidden disabilities who have trouble standing on public transport to make other passengers aware of their disability and that they may require a seat.

Founder and Director of Invisible Disability Ireland, Emily Larkin, notes invisible Disabilities are “no less challenging and can hinder a person’s efforts to go to school, work, socialize, and more”. Larkin further notes that, “1 in 7 people in Ireland have a disability and about 80% of disabilities have invisible impairments”.

The “Please Offer me a Seat” badge and card are available at the below operators:
• Dublin Bus
• Go-Ahead
• Bus Éireann
• Iarnród Éireann – Irish Rail
• Luas
• TFI Local Link

If you have a hidden disability, you can apply for the badge and card at any of the above operators free of charge.
