South Dublin County Council is set to be the first JAM Card friendly local authority in Ireland

Mayor Ed O’Brien of South Dublin County Council has recently announced that South Dublin County Council is set to become the first ‘Just A Minute’(JAM) card friendly local authority in Ireland.

The JAM card was created by NOW Group to help people with learning difficulties or any condition that may involve a communication barrier. The JAM card allows users to let other people know that they may need extra time or patience in a discreet, non-verbal manner. The card can be helpful to users in transport, retail or any other customer facing environment, it will help users to discreetly make staff aware of their condition.

The JAM card will be provided by South Dublin County Council at public counters in the Tallaght County Hall, the Civic Offices in Clondalkin and across South Dublin libraries. County Council Staff will wear pin badges to show that they have been adequately trained to recognize the JAM card

Mayor Ed O’Brien believes that South Dublin County Council’s commitment to becoming the first JAM Card friendly local authority will send out a clear message of inclusion and encourage other important services such as community, health, education and leisure facilities to adopt the use of JAM cards in their services.
